Itinerary
Day 1 · Cusco - Soraypampa - Soyrococha
The trek begins in Cusco and climbs to Soraypampa, base camp at the foot of the Salkantay glacier — the first acclimatization hike through high-Andean grassland.
✓ Includes: transport + local guide.
Day 2 · Soyrococha - Salkantay Pass - Chaullay
The hardest day of the route: crossing the pass at 4,600 meters, right at the foot of the Salkantay glacier, before descending toward Chaullay, already in humid forest terrain.
✓ Includes: transport + local guide.
Day 3 · Chaullay - Sahuayaco Beach - La Playa
The landscape changes completely on the way down into cloud forest: the vegetation turns dense and tropical, a world away from the Andean scenery of the day before.
✓ Includes: transport + local guide.
Day 4 · La Playa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes
The final stretch follows the train tracks into Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of Machu Picchu, the Urubamba River running alongside the whole way.
✓ Includes: transport + local guide.
Day 5 · Machu Picchu - Return to Cusco
The fifth day closes with the guided visit to the citadel — five days of trekking culminating in front of the stones National Geographic named one of the best hikes in the world.
✓ Includes: transport + local guide.
